Entry 2: Why WC?

Hey again. This one is going to be a little bit  more free style than the last post. Part of my philosophy is that not trying to connect with the people around you can only lead to misfortune. Especially in the business world, there are very few that can have that one in a million idea or ride long enough to become a monopoly. Losing touch with customers and losing their good will is a death blow if you've managed to gain some following. This post is going to be a look at why this blog is a Worker's collective, even if only in name. Take a hypothetical company: Under a more standard corporate hierarchical structure, the CEO and those of the management own the rights to the company. Of the total budget of the company, after expenses, take whatever comes off of the top as "profit". This is where the majority of a company's wealth is funneled. So long as they make more profit than before, nothing else matters. And those bellow them suffer as they clip corners to mak...

Entry 1: Thoughts on blogs

Hello again. This is Aniken again and I've been called on to formulate my thoughts on the ideas of blogs. There may be some bias, but whether that's from doing a blog or being told to do a blog is up to be discovered as the blog unfolds. My thoughts on blogs in general however is mostly neutral, slightly positive. Though that's sort of depends on you're trying to get out of doing something like a blog in the first place. It's distinct from some social media like Twitter For focusing less on attention grabbing buzz, and specifically not having a character limit. It's less flashy than other media forms so their popularity has started to wane. However on the small scale a large enough personality could bring life to an individual blog or a site if they get big enough. Personally I feel that b...

Introduction of the WC

Image
Hello there :) . My name is Aniken Hamm and this is the budding ground of a blog for the WC worker's collective. This blog is for relevant posts, information trying to be communicated, and anything that needs writing about. I will reflect on that information from the standpoint of the WC. However, as the author of an organization that hasn't officially formed yet, my own personal thoughts will be put into the blog. These don't necessarily reflect the opinions of anyone else at the WC, though if others agree then good for them. My personal interests are art, table top games, reading/writing, pet care, video media, and video games. These reflect the general things I enjoy but aren't specific since I'm not sure how much is acceptable to post on the blog. I'll give some examples though for a greater sense of familiarity. I occasionally enjoy drawing art, my favorite table top game is Rune Quest, my favorite book series is the Inheritance Cycle, I have two cats named...
